“About Yajnya and Yajman”
In traditional Gaudiya Vaishnava fire sacrifice (homa or yajna), the Yajman (or Yajamana) is the sponsor and authorized householder who initiates the ritual, bearing the spiritual and financial responsibility for its successful completion. While qualified priests (purohits) conduct the technical aspects of the ceremony, the Yajmans are considered the primary beneficiaries of the fruits of the yajnya. Of course, the central beneficiary of the acts of our sacrifice is Lord Vishnu or Krishna (Yajnya Purush), and everyone who participates, benefit. We are only offering that which the Supreme Lord has endowed us with, back to Him, with love and devotion, for His pleasure.
